Foster

Fostering makes life better for shelter animals

Alaska Mindful Paws is growing its foster program and we would love you to get involved!

What We Do

We predominantly foster kittens who are awaiting spay/neuter surgeries, or need to be bottle fed, or single puppies awaiting adoption.

From time to time, we’ll get a ‘hard case,’ which is usually behaviorally-challenged or sick dog that needs a break from the shelter. These cases need a quiet foster home with no other animals, but can be equally as rewarding.

For the most part, we do not foster out healthy, adoptable animals because we want them available should a potential adopter come to the shelter and want to visit them.

Most animals don’t stick around here long enough to need a foster home! And that’s something we’re proud of!

If you would like to open your heart and your home to a foster animal, complete the Foster Application or call the shelter at 235-3141 and we’ll put you on the list!

Thank you from our paws to yours!
